About This Course

This course’s comprehensive approach provides an accessible and thorough explanation of concepts relevant to the transgender and the human experience. It presents and explores the psychological and physiological complexities of transgender individuals and the societal, economical, legal and other barriers and struggles they face in their access to quality healthcare.

Dr. Eunice Avilés

Dr. Aviles has a doctorate in Clinical Psychology, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Gender Specialist, a certified Sex Educator, and an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist. She is a full member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). Dr. Avilés has had the opportunity to work with transgender and gender nonbinary individuals and their families for over 15 years.

Dr. Asa Radix

Dr. Radix is the Senior Director of Research and Education at the Callen-Lorde Community Health Center and a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at New York University. Dr. Radix trained in internal medicine and infectious disease at the University of Connecticut and obtained postgraduate degrees in epidemiology and public health at Cambridge University, UK. Dr. Radix has over 20 years of experience providing HIV care, primary care and hormone therapy to transgender and gender non-binary people and is a recognized expert in transgender medicine.
